DAY 07 ,ADAMS PEAK

Begin climb at approximately 0200 hrs. Climb through the night in order to reach the summit by dawn to witness a once in a lifetime sunrise. (If not cloudy….!) The pilgrim season for Adams peak is December to May. During this time thousands of pilgrims climb to the summit every night. The pathway is lit and the experience is a cultural treat. Prayers are chanted by pilgrims as they climb barefooted and clad in white attire. Small kiosks precariously perched on the mountain face will be selling hot buns and tea which become progressively more expensive as you climb higher in altitude. The price differential is clear when a local glides past you effortlessly with a sack of flour or a cylinder of LP gas on his shoulders! During the rest of the year the path way is not lit and there are no pilgrims, however the beauty, serenity and adventure of Adam’s Peak remain. During this time clients should bring battery operated torches for the climb. Descend the peak and return to the guest house for hot breakfast. After a short rest and once refreshed, proceed to Galle for your beach stay Overnight Lady Hill, Galle
